HOW TO GET AHEAD IN THE FOOD BUSINESS

Starting your own food business can be a scary thought. Be it a restaurant, blog, catering or pop-up stall it’s a very competitive market. Here at Thrive Studios we’ve used our knowledge and creative expertise to give you some key pointers for those thinking of taking those first steps.

Firstly you need to have amazing pictures. It’s so important especially for food related things to ensure you not only show the food but even more so, capture and show the lifestyle that you want your customers feel they can have. This is a big investment, but one you need to make in order to have someone produces images that are warm, welcoming and engaging.

Don’t just look at your food or drink as objects; think about how your customers will feel when they see your product, where will it be, what other products will be around, any competition?

Think about the wider picture not just what you’re selling.  As Lisa Clunie of Thrive Studios says “Branding is the expectations people have about you before they do business with you, and the experiences they have when they do that form your reputation”

The second best thing you can do is know your competition.  This enables you to see how your brand will need to differ.  Think about how you can ensure people talk about your brand after they’ve finished the experience. You need to generate loyal customers that can withstand changes in market demand.  Maybe give them something extra that they can take home with them.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of your market is an essential part of building your brand as well as being honest about your product.  All these factors as vital if you want to make it in the food industry.
