The word “mobile” is such a broad term in today’s fast moving way of life. These days’ applications are designed to work on specific devices for specific tasks, or designed for a particular user experience that transforms those devices and takes into account the range of tools a user might use throughout their day.
We carry our devices with us everywhere we go, and we use them to do lots of different things. There are some activities that are particularly suited to certain devices and there are times when we put down one device to use another.
When ‘mobile’ applications are made and technologies are being chosen they will create it based on the following questions for the end user:
- Who is the user?
- What are they trying to accomplish?
- Where are they?
- Where are they going or where do they need to be?
- Do they have any limitations?
- What tools and information does the user need access to?
Answers to these questions then help define devices and applications and as technology progresses, user needs change, and so do these devices and therefore “mobile” is forever evolving.
