Renaissance Interiors Case Study
When Karen Chapman, founder of Renaissance Interiors, approached me, her business had already been established for over 25 years. She had built a strong reputation, loyal clients and an impressive portfolio of work, but she felt the business had reached a point where the brand no longer reflected who she was or where she wanted to take it. Like many business owners I work with, Karen had years of experience, knowledge and talent, but she wasn’t fully communicating the value of what she offered.
From the outside, people often saw her as someone who made curtains and provided upholstery services. Whilst those services were part of the business, they only represented a small part of what Karen could do. Her real strength was her ability to transform spaces, guide clients through design decisions and create beautiful interiors that reflected both lifestyle and personality.
What became clear during our initial meetings was that Karen was underestimating her own expertise.
As we talked about her career, her experience and the projects she had worked on over the years, it became obvious that she had a huge amount of knowledge to share. However, she wasn’t positioning herself as the experienced interior design professional she truly was. Her confidence in talking about her expertise simply wasn’t matching the level of experience she had built over more than two decades in business.
Looking Beyond the Logo
Our work began with a deep dive into Karen’s business, her goals and her vision for the future. I spent time asking questions about where she wanted the business to go over the next 25 years, the type of clients she most enjoyed working with and how she wanted people to perceive Renaissance Interiors. From those conversations we developed mood boards, explored colour palettes and gathered inspiration that reflected Karen’s style, personality and creative vision.
However, this project was never simply about designing a new logo. The real work was helping Karen see the value she already brought to her clients and ensuring the brand communicated that value clearly and confidently. We needed to move the business away from being viewed primarily as a supplier of furnishings and reposition it as a professional interior design consultancy with creativity, expertise and personal service at its heart.
Creating a Brand That Reflected the Business
Karen was immediately drawn to a sophisticated palette of blues, soft aqua tones and elegant greys. These colours reflected the calm, timeless and professional feel she wanted clients to experience when working with Renaissance Interiors. We developed several creative concepts before refining the final identity. The chosen design featured a beautiful Tiffany blue colour combined with dark grey typography and a stylised white feather icon. The feather symbolised creativity, elegance and transformation, all qualities that reflected Karen’s approach to interior design.

The typography combined clean, professional lettering with a softer handwritten style to represent the personal and approachable service Karen provides. Because she works closely with every client, it was important that the brand felt warm, welcoming and highly individual. Every element was designed to work across different touchpoints of the business while remaining timeless enough to support the company for many years to come.
Building Confidence Alongside the Brand
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was seeing Karen begin to recognise the value of her own experience. As we worked through the strategy and positioning, she became more confident talking about what she did and the impact she could have on her clients’ homes and lifestyles. The rebrand gave her permission to step forward as the expert she had always been. Rather than hiding behind services, she started talking about solutions, design expertise and the transformation she creates for her clients.
The Results
The impact of the rebrand extended far beyond the visual identity. Karen has continued to grow and evolve the business and has since expanded her team to support increasing demand. She now works closely with architects, collaborating on projects from the planning stage. By bringing an interior design perspective into the process earlier, she helps clients make better design decisions before construction even begins, creating homes that work beautifully both practically and aesthetically.
Karen has also increased the visibility of Renaissance Interiors through exhibitions, networking and industry events, further strengthening her reputation within the sector. A significant milestone came when she opened her own showroom and retail space. The showroom allows clients to experience products, materials and design ideas first hand while also offering carefully curated home accessories and furnishings. Karen regularly visits trade exhibitions, including Top Drawer in London, sourcing unique and inspiring products that help her create bespoke interiors for her clients. The showroom has become an extension of the Renaissance Interiors experience and another way for clients to access Karen’s expertise.
Today, Renaissance Interiors is a thriving and growing business with an established team, strong professional partnerships, a beautiful showroom and a brand that truly reflects the quality, creativity and experience behind the business.
Final Thoughts
This project is a perfect example of why branding is never just about logos, colours and fonts. The most successful brands are built when business owners truly understand their value, communicate it with confidence and position themselves as the expert they already are. Karen always had the experience, talent and knowledge. The rebrand simply helped the world see it too.
